A 35 year-old chiropractor was driving near an intersection in the Rossville section of Richmond County when a sport utility vehicle struck the right side of his car. As a result, he suffered several injuries and was diagnosed with:
- Lumbar disc protrusion of his L2-3 intervertebral disc
- Disc bulges of his L3-4 and L4-5 discs
- Residual impingement of a spinal nerve, resulting in radicular pain extending into his legs
- Diminished range of motion in his back (25–40%)
To address his injuries, he underwent 17 weeks of physical therapy, for about three times a week. He also received three epidural steroid injections to manage the pain. Unfortunately, he continued to experience chronic back pain, persistent radicular symptoms, and limitations in his ability to treat his chiropractic patients, forcing him to modify his work methods.
